The Secret To The Best Kept Oven

Who likes to clean the oven? Would you believe me if I told you I do? The other day I was hosting a dinner party and my creme boules dessert bubbled over and spilled all over my oven. My guests were devastated that I would have to clean up that burnt on mess. My reaction to them was rather shocking because I jumped for joy. You see, that meant I got to clean my oven. I bet you’re thinking who is this crazy person and why does she like to clean her oven. Well I will let you in on a little secret.  Steam cleaners!

I pulled out my  steam cleaner and got to work. I started by attaching my 2” stiff brush to the end of my steam nozzle and wrapped it with a stainless steel spiral-cut mesh scrubber to blast through everything baked onto the flat surfaces inside the oven including the oven door and window. (But, be careful, I don’t use regular steel wool scrubbers because they will scratch things like glass and metal only use stainless steel.)  My steam cleaner got all of that black baked-on gunk off the bottom of the oven and racks in minutes.

Next I used my steam nozzle to blast out grime and other gunk in the corners, crevices and other hard to reach places. I absolutely love to see how the black and brown, sticky and caked-on job is taken care of in a matter of minutes with virtually no work The best thing is I did all of this without heating my entire home or using those nasty, harsh chemicals that irritate my skin and breathing and bake into my food the next time I use my oven, making everything taste funny.

My  steam cleaner heats ordinary tap water to 300 degrees which is hot enough to melt through all of that burnt on gunk in no time flat. All I have to do is touch the mess with the attachment I choose, and flip the switch on the hose and watch the disaster zone disappear. At that temperature, nothing is going to be left behind like bacteria and germs or any other little critter that might like to make us sick.

Needless to say my dinner party was very impressed with my clean up. Oh ya, I forgot to mention I did all of this while my dinner party was still there and in my dinner party attire. It took me a matter of minutes. While I had my steam cleaner out I also spruced up the oven top and burners. When I was finished, it looked like I have a brand new oven! All of this thanks to my  steam cleaner.

CHANGE CAN BE GOOD… The Saga Of Oven Cleaning Through The Years

My mother was a good house keeper and in my early recollection, we had a wood or coal stove that was transformed into a gas stove in the early 1950’s. I imagine she had to clean the oven, wouldn’t you ?

Twelve or so years later she got a new house and along with that… a new gas stove! Of  course, at 14 years old who cares about a clean  oven? But I am sure she was just as challenged having grease and food spills on the bottom of the oven that she had to clean up, as we are today! Did I see her clean the oven ..sure I did!

When I had to clean the oven in college as I moved out of an apartment , I knew that I had to use “oven cleaner”  and found out very rapidly how I hated the process…gloves , newspaper, oven cleaner, paper towels, time consuming and fumes  that were so caustic that I had to hold my breath, and if any chemical got on my skin, it would burn! There was no alternative to cleaning an oven!

Six years ago, if you had asked me if I was a good housekeeper, well, I would have said no! Why? Well, if you checked the oven I was using then I would shamefully explain to  you that it had been 3 years since I cleaned it. That was one of my house cleaning excuses, I hated cleaning the oven!
Did I clean that dirty oven …yes I did and darn it, it was shortly after I did… that Sargent Steam vapor cleaner came into my life! It alleviated that nightmare of cleaning my oven!

CHANGE CAN BE GOOD... The Saga Of Oven Cleaning Through The YearsCan you imagine having 298 degrees of heat, 50 pounds of pressure , a detail nozzle with a  stainless steel brush , and just paper towel to clean a dirty oven! That is all it takes! It is so effective, it is so fast and such an improvement  ..it is “Fun” to clean up my oven! No longer do those spills from a casserole or pizza or baking a pie get a moan out of my mouth! And those oven racks are so much easier to clean!

Well you might say …I have a self cleaning oven!

My friends don’t like to use the self cleaning feature because it is too hot. very smelly, and leaves a smokey residue on the inner edge of the door which is hard to get off!CHANGE CAN BE GOOD... The Saga Of Oven Cleaning Through The Years

The only safe  way to clean an oven is to use steam with pressure. There are no gloves, no caustic smelly chemicals and less time involved . I saw my friend who was in a house remodel transform a filthy wall oven to a sparkly blue enamel clean oven, knowing she had just saved herself from purchasing a new oven!

My friends, save your valuable time, minimize your efforts and today get a Sargent steam cleaner to clean your ovens! The benefits are wonderful! If only my mother could have had a Sargent Steam cleaner in her day ..wouldn’t have life been so much easier for her?
