My Stinky Smelly Shoes!

The other night I was relaxing outside on my patio and enjoying the wonderfully warm summer evening. Then I caught a whiff of a weird smell. What IS that smell and why does it keep following me around? It can’t possibly be me…. Oh no! I realized it was me- well my shoes anyway!

I guess I should have figured that out sooner, especially with it being so hot. Wearing sandals and no socks – what else did I expect? I took one off and looked closely. It was absolutely black where it should have been white! Every step I’d taken that day had left its mark on my shoes and my feet.

I immediately washed my feet but what do I do to fix these shoes? I can’t just throw this pair in the sink or the washing machine. They’re leather and have little embellishments on the straps.   I couldn’t imagine wearing them again as dirty as they were. Then I thought… why not try my steamer on them? It’s awesome on other things – I bet it will work on my sandals as well.

While it was heating up I grabbed every pair of shoes in the house that might have, well, let’s just say not the most desirable odor one might want. My son’s tennis shoes were almost beyond hope but I thought what the heck…I was willing to try! I put my sandals on a cloth on the counter, put a small soft brush on the tip of the nozzle and steamed away.

I was amazed to watch the dirt and grime literally melt. In just a few minutes not only were my sandals returned to their original color but the steam killed the bacteria that caused the odor! I knew it! It worked even better than I’d hoped. Even those stinky boy tennis shoes were saved.

Oh happy day! No more smell and my shoes looked so clean they seemed brand new! I figured I’d just saved myself a bundle not needing to buy us all new shoes! Just one more reason to add to my long list of why I love my steamer!

Three Ways to Shine on the Golf Course

You know the feeling you have when you buy a new set of golf clubs or new golf shoes and you can’t wait to get out on the golf course to try them out? After a while you lose that feeling because your shoes get grass stained and dingy and your clubs start looking like they’ve seen better days. Have you ever heard of using a steam cleaner to restore the tack on your grip and to shine your clubs and shoes so they always look new? I have three easy tips for you to help keep that brand new feeling.

Golf Clubs

Golf Clubs

1. Restore the tack on your grip with a steam cleaner using the soft brush and a little bit of hand soap. Within seconds all that build up on your grip is melted away leaving a perfect grip. Most golfers would agree that a clean and restored tack improves your golf score.

2. Shine your club shaft and heads with steam and a micro fiber cloth. In minutes your whole golf club set looks like brand new. No more grass or dirt wedged in cracks and crevices to interfere with the sweet spot. When the other players see you, you will be the envy of the golf course.  The folks on the course will think ‘Look at that guy.  He always has a new set of clubs!’

3. Keep your golf shoes looking and smelling just like new. Again use a steam cleaner with a soft brush and a little hand soap to blast away grass stains in minutes. Your golf shoes will look just like the day you bought them.  To get rid of that sweaty foot smell put the steam nozzle inside the shoe and steam for 10 seconds. The hot steam will even kill bacteria and deodorize your shoes so you don’t have to stop at the showers before you head for the “19th hole.”

One of the advantages of steam cleaners is that you can see the results immediately. Your clubs have never looked newer since the day you brought them home.  Not to mention your shoes never again have grass stains on them and the strokes off your game are having people ask you your secret.  So go ahead, try something new to help you shine on the golf course.

Tidy Your RV In A Snap

RV’s and trailers are fun for the whole family but the tight quarters tend to get very dirty very quickly. Kids and their friends leave dirty hand print trails, dogs roll around in the dirt and then head for their favorite spot…the couch. Dads 4-wheel in the mud and then track their muddy footprints to the bathroom that turns the once pristine bathroom into a mud pit.  Fixing meals in such a tight space can leave the kitchen looking like a tornado hit it. You’ve collected road tar and dirt from one end of the country to the other.  Are you left wondering ‘How am I ever going to get this place clean?’

Boy, the gear you need to clean up this mess can sure be overwhelming! I mean you need Windex for the windows, Clorox wipes for the fingerprints, Resolve for the dirty couch and carpet stains, Tilex for the muddy shower, 409 and Soft Scrub for the kitchen areas. Not to mention rubber gloves so your hands don’t crack and dry out because of all the harsh chemicals you are continually using. How are you to keep all those chemicals separate so they don’t spill and contaminate everything else they come in contact with? That sure is a lot of stuff to remember to pack just to keep the RV clean while you are out having fun.

Consider steam as an alternative.  Steam uses tap water heated to 298 degrees to sanitize any surface it touches. With one swipe of a steam cleaner the dirty hand prints are gone, couch and carpet stains are eliminated, the once muddy bathroom is pristine in minutes and your kitchen area has never been so sparkly clean and germ free.

If you still feel like you do not have space for a steam cleaner try a Micro Fiber Cloth and a spray bottle full of water. Spray your windows with the water and wipe them clean with the Micro Fiber cloth. You will be amazed at the streak-free shine you get with only tap water. This method is definitely better for you than the old way of cleaning.

Typically you go RV’ing to enjoy the outdoor fresh air and great scenery. But the enclosed air inside your RV is very easily polluted.  So why contaminate your indoor environment even more with harsh cleaning chemicals when you can use pure, healthy steam instead? You might think you don’t have space in your RV for a steam cleaner when in fact most steam cleaners take up less room than all those harsh chemicals and is environmentally friendly.

“Momma, I had an accident…in my bed”

Two days ago was bed changing day at my house. I have to be completely honest, I had been noticing an odor in my 4 year olds bedroom that I recognized

Clean up Urine on Mattresses

Clean up Urine on Mattresses

(URINE) but I couldn’t locate the source. My child has never been a bed wetter but as you all know accidents do happen.

Immediately I felt overwhelmed as I stood there staring at this stain wondering how I was going to remove not only the stain but the bacteria and odor. The mattress was fairly new and definitely not disposable but I was new at this kind of thing and didn’t know where to start.

I live a very hectic life so I needed a quick and convenient way to handle this situation. I researched this problem online trying to find the best approach. I wanted a sanitary method but every solution I found included some kind of chemical which I didn’t want to expose my child to.

I turned to the one thing in my closet that has never let me down, my Sargent Steam. I went to their amazing website for proper instructions and found this was going to be a lot easier than I had imagined.

These were my exact instructions. Attach 2 extensions and the rectangle brush covered with a cloth to the end of my hose. Turn the steam on and go north and south then east and west over the stain with a vacuuming motion.

Repeat this process with a clean cloth until the stain is gone. The steam removed the stain, killed the bacteria that was causing the odor and as an added benefit killed the unseen dust mites or other allergens that might have been present!

This took about 20 minutes, did an amazing job and not a nasty chemical was used. The mattress was dry by the time the sheets were laundered. That’s the kind of solution I was looking for and couldn’t find anywhere but with Sargent Steam.

I rest assured my child’s mattress is good as new and he is not sleeping with any little uninvited guests. I am always finding new reasons to love
my Sargent Steam even more. This thing is definitely addicting. I encourage everyone to check this amazing cleaning tool out and see
for yourself why I’m head over heals in love with my Sargent. Visit their website http://www.sargentsteam.com.

Last Minute BBQ Clean Up

Have you ever had dinner guests come over on really short notice? This morning, my boyfriend tells me he wants to have some of the players on his rugby team over for dinner after their big game. TONIGHT! I was kind of in a frenzy trying to get the house organized and something planned for dinner that could feed a rugby team.

BBQ Cleaning

BBQ Cleaning

I decided to have burgers and hot dogs on the BBQ with a good simple pasta salad and dessert of some sort; the whole nine yards. (Go big or go home, right?) It would be fast and feed lots of hungry rugby players. I ran to the store and got everything ready for later, when I got home I noticed the barbeque was filthy and the patio furniture was a disaster!  I couldn’t even see through the dirt and grime. I didn’t want to spend much time in the house with it being such nice weather. I thought I’d still be cleaning when they all get here. Then I remembered I have my very own miracle machine; my steam cleaner!

I took a deep breath, filled my steam cleaner with ordinary tap water, and while it was heating up, I brushed all the loose dirt and char off the BBQ. When my machine was ready, I started with my patio furniture. I put on my diamond brush with and cloth and turned on the steam. In less than ten minutes, I had my whole patio set sparkling clean and set up. They looked like a brand new patio set!

Next I moved over to my BBQ  and steam cleaned the textured outside with my steam nozzle and 2” stiff brush and watched the dirt and grime melt away with almost no effort at all. I added a spiral-cut stainless steel scrubber to do the racks and the charred muck on the bottom by the grease catcher.

My whole barbeque was clean and sparkly in a total of 20 minutes. That job used to take all afternoon! The meal was ready to go and my patio looked amazing. I got to sit back and relax until game time. They won of course. I enjoy myself in the sun and came home for a great yummy meal with good friends on my sparkling clean patio. All of this thanks to my steam cleaner.

My name is Lisa, and I have been a proud Sargent Steam owner for about 15 years now. If you’d like to see the many places in your own home that would benefit from owning a steam cleaner visit http://www.sargentsteam.com.

Heathy Home Cleaning Alternative

How many people out there have the same cleaning challenges that I do- When to clean? How to clean? Is it safe to clean with this or are these chemicals harmful to me or my family? Should I clean green? Will cleaning green actually work?

With so many questions and concerns I decided to do some research. I was surprised to find that in a January 2009 report by the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine it stated “all the women in their study who were exposed to cleaning agents, including both asthmatic and non-asthmatic participants, had respiratory symptoms in response.” Since asthma runs in my family I was now scared to death that I could actually be giving myself and my family a chronic illness by cleaning! WOW! Who knew?

I decided to research a bit deeper into eliminating those harsh and toxic cleaning chemicals and my research led me to cleaning with steam. Steam uses ordinary tap water to clean and sanitize practically every surface in my home. With steam, I don’t have to worry about harsh chemicals that are harmful or fatal if accidentally ingested or inhaled.

There were so many steam cleaners to choose from out there. Small hand held ones that were about $99 and big industrial looking ones that were about $7,000. Luckily I found a steam cleaner that was right in the middle cost-wise at about $1,200. You might think I’m crazy for spending all that money on a steam cleaner but I weighed the pros and cons. Cleaning with steam is not only going to save my family’s health, it’s actually going to save me money over the years instead of cost me money.  Can you believe that?

I bought my steamer at Sargent Steam and I’m so impressed with it! It easily blasts through my toughest grime and hardest  jobs, but is gentle enough for use on my hardwood floors and painted walls. I can’t believe how versatile this machine is! I absolutely LOVE it! And so does the environment. You really can have it all- a clean home, a healthy family and a green cleaner that actually works.

Hardwood Floor Microfiber Miracle

My boyfriend and I helped move some friends into a new house over the weekend. The thing our friends were most excited about is their hard wood
floors. They were a little nervous because they’ve never lived in a house where they’d have to take care of them.

She had asked other friends if they knew how to keep them looking like brand new without ruining them and the methods she heard were really silly.Someone suggested using vinegar and water to get them clean and wax to keep them conditioned. But what I know about vinegar is that it’s a corrosive! The last thing she’d want is to eat through the varnish! The wax just left everything cloudy and sticky. She could see foot prints on
them almost right after she did them.

These just seemed like too much work, and too many things to be worried about all at once so I suggested we use my Microfiber Mop. I just misted the
mop pad with regular tap water and ran over the floor. I could see the dirt and dust cling to the mop. I couldn’t believe how clean it made the wood.
Now they look clean and polished with almost no work at all.

I’m so glad I didn’t have to come up with a crazy concoction to make her floors look better. The secret to the microfiber mop is in the way the
fibers are made and what they are made out of. The material is a Microfiber-polyamide blend with NO cotton. They weave the fibers to look
like star-shaped clusters. These little groupings of thirsty fingers cling onto just about anything they touch.

I like to use them dry to get all the loose dirt and debris off the floor instead of a standard broom. I love them with just a small amount of water
to get the harder, stickier messes off with ease. When I’m finished I simply remove the pad from the attachment head and then launder with regular
detergent. I don’t use fabric softener because this will coat the fibers and affect how well the mop can do its job.

My name is Lisa, and I have been using Microfibers form Sargent Steam for about six years now. I still haven’t seen all the places these great little
tools have made leaps and bounds over other methods. If you would like to see where your home can benefit from using just Microfibers and water
instead of mops and buckets with chemicals, please visit the experts at Sargent Steam. http://www.sargentsteam.com.

Hamburger Leakage – Imagine The Smell!

Imagine it’s 6:30 am. I wake up and drag myself to the kitchen for coffee. I pour my cup of black gold and open the refrigerator to retrieve the cream. I almost scream! I close the door quickly and open it again slowly. Sure enough, what I saw and smelled the first time was still there.

Cleaning the Inside of the Fridge

Cleaning the Inside of the Fridge

The hamburger meat I put in the refrigerator the night before had leaked all over everything! Blood covered the shelf, the door and every nook and cranny it could find. The bottles in the door were covered. There was even a dark nasty puddle in the vegetable bin! I was so mad, I tossed the whole icky package of meat right into the trash.

It gave me the creeps to think of the germs and bacteria that now covered half my food. The thought of using a chemical disinfectant and contaminating the other half didn’t exactly appeal either. What a crappy way to start the day! I sipped my first cup of coffee and grumbled.

Then I took an attitude adjustment and plugged in my steamer. It’s my go-to, disaster-blaster, can’t live without it – cure all. While I let my machine heat up I took all the food that was sitting in a puddle of blood from the shelf. I wiped up drips with a paper towel. I dumped the contents of the vegetable bin in the trash.

I saw my steamer’s green light, grabbed the nozzle and soft brush, draped a cloth over them both and started steaming. I rotated the cloth to a clean spot as I steamed. I was amazed at how even the dried blood came right off. The jet of steam blasted blood out of the little nooks and crannies and into my paper towel. Blood couldn’t even hide in the corners of the door boxes.

I steamed every surface until I was confident all the bacteria and germs were gone. The fact is it only takes the steam 2 seconds to sanitize what it’s touching. Anyway, within 15 minutes I was sitting down to my second cup of coffee and wondering about what else I had time to steam before getting ready for work.

I feel so strongly about sharing my horrible experience with as many people as I can reach only because the outcome was so amazing. Let me just say I love my steam cleaner and that the advantages of cleaning with steam are many.

The things I love most about my steamer are the pressure that reaches even the tightest spots, the high temperature that sanitizes and disinfects without using any chemicals, the wide variety of brushes and attachments that make this cleaning tool so versatile. It’s safe and effective on any surface in my home and even in my car.

I could go on and on but like I said before I really want to share my horrible experience with everyone. You all owe it to yourself to explore the benefits of cleaning with steam.  I know I could never go back to cleaning the old fashioned way. Without my steamer I would have just shut that fridge and gone back to bed! Oh, and by the way, double wrap your hamburger!

Green Up Your Spring Clean Up

Spring is here and the forsythia and tulips are starting to bloom. Being cooped up indoors this long winter has me itching to get outside. Before I do that I need to make sure I start this season off with a clean fresh home. I got thinking about the idea of spring cleaning and I nearly gagged.

Spring Cleaning Option #1. I decided to take a walk down the cleaning isle at my local grocery store. The first thing I noticed was that this was going to cost me a fortune. The second thing I noticed was that this spring cleaning thing just might kill me…literally.  Have you ever read the labels on some of those chemicals? Talk about chemicals soup. I was afraid for my life. Warnings all over the bottles. That can’t be healthy at all. I was not going to expose myself or my family to those harsh, toxic, dangerous chemicals.

This process led me to Spring Cleaning Option #2.  Researching Eco-Friendly cleaning solutions was not the easiest task. After my research I’m going to be forced to build a special cleaning cabinet just to house the number of products I must purchase in order to clean all the different surfaces in my home the Natural and Eco-Friendly way.

These products may be Eco-Friendly but what about all those plastic bottles ending up in the landfill. At this point I started wondering if I was going to have to revert to using my grandmother’s formula for cleaning… Vinegar. Love that smell. Um, not so much. There has got to be an alternative and I’m here to tell you I have found it. STEAM.

Spring Cleaning Option #3. As soon as I was introduced to cleaning with steam I knew I was never going back to the antiquated way our mothers and grandmothers used. I can clean and sanitize every surface in my home with just regular tap water. Now, plain old drinkable water is the only fluid I need, and I have total piece of mind knowing I’m cleaning with no toxic chemicals.

Cleaning with steam eliminates all those harsh chemicals. It’s compact, easily stored, efficient, effective and very simple to use. I clean everything from my delicate plants, hardwood floors, tile, grout, sinks, appliances, toys, electronics, upholstery, windows and even detail my car. The possibilities with my steam cleaner are endless.

Now there is no need for me to wait for a big spring clean. All I have to do is clean something once and it stays cleaner longer because there are no chemicals left over to attract more dirt.

Got to run. My spring cleaning is taken care of so I’m going to get outside and scratch that itch. Make sure you look into steam cleaning as one of your spring cleaning choices. I highly recommend cleaning with steam as an alternative to all other cleaning methods.

Dutch Oven Cleaning That Will Make The Best Cook Envy!

It is that time of year again- summer -which of course includes swimming, hiking and CAMPING! For our family camping includes traditional Dutch oven cooking. Delicious BBQ chicken, roasted potatoes and of course peach cobbler (we can’t forget the dessert!)

As I was getting all the camping gear out in preparation for our upcoming trip I was absolutely horrified with the condition of my dutch ovens. RUST and lots of it. I couldn’t believe it,  I thought I had cleaned out the ovens and seasoned them last year before we put them away- apparently not. They looked horrible and smelled like rancid oil.

Oh the rust! The inside, the outside, everywhere, all the nooks and crannies rust, rust, rust. My husband was going to kill me! I debated whether or not I had enough time to run out and buy new ones and season them before he got home- oh and I would have to find the exact same kind. I knew I would never make it.

So when I went online to find out how to correct my mistake (it is an easy mistake to make you know) the only suggestions I found were to get some steel wool and scrub or use lye-based rust remover chemicals. Scrubbing with steel wool didn’t exactly appeal to me, and neither did tasting nasty chemicals.

I really wanted to protect my family from ingesting rust as a seasoning and I knew chemical flavored peach cobbler was not going to go over well with my kids. So I thought why not use my Sargent Steam- it works on everything else. I grabbed my steamer, attached the nozzle to the end, put a 2″ stiff brush on and covered it with a scrub bud. I have never seen rust disappear so quickly or easily!

The whole cleaning process only took me about 20 minutes with very little effort. That also included getting all of the charcoal and carbon film off the bottom that would normally blacken the rest of my camping gear. I had enough time to re-season the ovens and my husband was none the wiser. In fact, he even complimented me on what a great job I had done putting them away last year (ha ha ha)

And the best part was how good everything tasted-no rancid seasoning or rust flavoring.  Honestly this process was as easy as it was amazing. I can add this success to the long list of things only my Sargent can handle and why I rely on it for EVERYTHING!
