Mircofiber 101 pt2 - Why should I clean with Microfiber?

Unlike cotton cloths, microfibers leave no lint or dust. They actually pick up dust and capture it within the fibers instead of just creating a dust storm that resettles on your furniture. You’ll dust again half as often. They are fast, effective and efficient.

High quality Microfiber can hold up to seven times its weight in water so it leaves no moisture behind each swipe. One microfiber cloth can dry a whole sink full of dishes, clean a whole lot of windows and mirrors, or absorb the whole wet spill at once.

They are reusable and very earth friendly. They work best with plain old tap water so you’ll save big dollars on paper towels and cleaning chemicals. You won’t be creating caustic chemical soup that gets flushed down the drain and ends up in the ground water.

With no chemicals to buy, there’s no adding the paper or plastic packaging to the landfill. You’ll save money and mother earth.

They last forever! I don’t think I’ve ever actually thrown one out…I just let them graduate from the cleanest jobs onto the dirtiest. When they’re brand new I use them for polishing glass, drying dishes and wiping off countertops and cabinets. If they get a stain, I relegate them to cleaning my hardwood floors, the stove or greasy appliances. I‘ve repeatedly warned my husband to keep his hands off mine and get his own for the garage and the carwash!

Mircofiber 101 pt1 - What is Microfiber?

Microfiber is a modern marvel of manmade fibers. It’s a blend (usually 20/80) of wedge shaped polyester and polyamide wound into superfine strands (less than one denier) around a nylon core. That sounds kind of technical, so what does it mean; thirsty cloths that pick up dust, dirt and moisture like no other.

The type of knitting process determines the particular use. You can microfiber to do a variety of tasks. Tight microfiber weaves make amazingly absorbent and polishing cleaning tools. Other weaves that are lofty and light to create fingers are great for grabbing. The waffle weaved cloths are perfect for scrubbing and get stuck on bits off or surfaces safely.

Can I Use Steam On An Intelligel Bed Mattress

The other day we had a customer ask us if they could use our steam cleaner to clean their Intelligel bed mattress. Boy are we glad you asked us that question and I’m happy to say, “YES.” Sargent Steam is very effective at controlling dust mites or any other allergens that may be living in your mattress, upholstery, carpeting. You can control odors or stains any time they happen and it’s very fast and easy.

Steam molecules are so tiny that they penetrate the cause of the odor and stain and since the steam is so hot it actually kills the bacteria rather than just covering it up. The hot dry steam cools and dries very rapidly so your bedding isn’t soaked for hours.

The owner of several Intellebed stores here in town owns two of our machines for the express purpose of keeping his floor model mattresses looking (and smelling) their best. Isn’t that a relief to know that his mattresses that everyone tests out in his store are germ and bug free. Sign me up. I would buy from him just for that reason alone.

On a personal note, my parents own an Intelligel bed and use their Sargent Steamer on it regularly. They sleep sound knowing there are no little critters crawling on them in the middle of the night.

Not only is using steam good at killing dust mites and bacteria on mattresses it is also good at killing other germs on other surfaces like counter tops, toilets, sinks and BBQ’s just to name a few. Check out some videos on steam cleaning various items with no chemicals at all. Visit http://www.sargentsteam.com/support/hints-and-tricks/ and watch these videos today.

I hope you have found this information to be helpful and I look forward to answering any other questions you may have about Sargent Steam or steaming in general. Get more information on making your home cleaning in record time and without harsh chemicals at http://www.SargentSteam.com

LAST MINUTE BBQ CLEAN UP

Have you ever had dinner guests come over on really short notice? This morning, my boyfriend tells me he wants to have some of the players on his rugby team over for dinner after their big game. TONIGHT! I was kind of in a frenzy trying to get the house organized and something planned for dinner that could feed a rugby team.

I decided to have burgers and hot dogs on the BBQ with a good simple pasta salad and dessert of some sort; the whole nine yards. (Go big or go home, right?) It would be fast and feed lots of hungry rugby players. I ran to the store and got everything ready for later, when I got home I noticed the barbeque was filthy and the patio furniture was a disaster! I couldn’t even see through the dirt and grime. I didn’t want to spend much time in the house with it being such nice weather. I thought I’d still be cleaning when they all get here. Then I remembered I have my very own miracle machine; my steam cleaner!

I took a deep breath, filled my steam cleaner with ordinary tap water, and while it was heating up, I brushed all the loose dirt and char off the BBQ. When my machine was ready, I started with my patio furniture. I put on my diamond brush with and cloth and turned on the steam. In less than ten minutes, I had my whole patio set sparkling clean and set up. They looked like a brand new patio set!

Next I moved over to my BBQ and steam cleaned the textured outside with my steam nozzle and 2” stiff brush. I watched the dirt and grime melt away with almost no effort at all! I added a spiral-cut stainless steel scrubber to do the racks and the charred muck on the bottom by the grease catcher.

My whole barbeque was clean and sparkly in a total of 20 minutes! That job used to take all afternoon! The meal was ready to go and my patio looked amazing. I got to sit back and relax until game time. They won of course. I enjoyed myself in the sun and came home for a great yummy meal with good friends on my sparkling clean patio. All of this thanks to my steam cleaner.

My name is Lisa, and I have owned my steam cleaner for over 10 years now and I still find new things to do with it. If you’d like more information on making your home cleaner in record time and without any harsh chemicals, please check out these steam cleaners.

A SMALL TIP FOR SPRINGTIME ALLERGY RELIEF

Spring is finally here! I love all the new flowers, picnics and sunshine. However spring time can also mean allergies for some of us. My boyfriend has indoor and outdoor allergies that drive him crazy. His indoor allergies always get worse when there are more things in the air outside and he’s miserable.

I heard Steam was a good way to get a handle on places that store indoor allergens. I have been using my steamer on the mattress and pillows when I change the sheets each week, and the couches in the living room. I have noticed a huge difference in his symptoms since I have started to do this.

I use the diamond or the rectangle brush with a cloth over all the cushions and mattress. With the machine producing steam over 290 degrees, and using over fifty pounds of pressure I can get deep into the fibers and padding of the couch and bedding.

Now we don’t wake up in the middle of the night looking for his inhaler or allergy medicine. We can sit on the couch and he won’t have fits of coughing and sneezing anymore. We can even let our dog, Sunny up on the couch sometimes now!

SQUEAKY CLEAN SPRINGTIME WINDOWS

Get up, get up, get out of bed! Don’t you know it’s spring? The days are so lovely; they’ll make your heart sing! When spring time rolls around I love to look out my kitchen windows to see everything “new.” However, my heart drops when I have to see it all through my dirty windows.

I wanted to be able to see all the flowers and trees in bloom, the birds in the sky and everyone who comes out to walk their dog in such nice, bright weather. After a long, wet, muddy winter and with a dog who likes to jump on the windows when he wants back in the house, my windows are a nightmare.

I knew just what to do! I got out my trusty steam cleaner and filled it with water. While I waited for my steamer to heat up, I started with a spray bottle of plain old tap water and a microfiber cloth on the blinds and window sills. I vacuumed all the loose dirt, dust and cob webs out of the corners and crevices.

Then, I put my diamond brush on my steamer and ran over the slats in my vinyl blinds to remove any left-over dust and greasy finger prints. With the same attachment set up, I moved to the screens. Without having to remove them from the window, I got them clean and free of allergens and dirt in seconds and the cloth was black as night!

Next, I used my steam nozzle to do the inside of my window tracks. I placed a paper towel in one corner and blasted all the dirt and grime into it form the other side. I can’t tell you how much I love to do this particular part of a window-cleaning job because I don’t have to use an old toothbrush or cotton swabs anymore.

After the blinds, sills, screens, and tracks were all finished, I moved on to do the glass. I use my window squeegee attachment to steam away any sticky, cloudy, streaky mess using regular tap water super heated to almost three hundred degrees.

With water being heated in the tank to that temperature, it is already distilled water. There are no minerals or solutions in the water to leave behind steaks you can see when the sun hits the windows.

There is another benefit to chemical-free cleaning with steamers; NO FINGERPRINTS! Normal glass cleaning products are made with petroleum, an oil-based chemical that is sticky and clings to things like dust, dirt, and other oils. That’s why when you spend so much time getting the windows nice and shiny, you tell everyone to keep their hands to themselves.

Using steam on your glass surfaces (not just windows, but table tops, shelves, figurines and many more glass surfaces as well) leaves no residue for contaminates to cling to so your windows stay cleaner for much, much longer.

My name is Lisa, and I have been a proud Sargent Steam owner for about 15 years now. If you’d like to see the many places in your own home that would benefit from owning a steam cleaner, please visit the experts.

The Secret to Cleaning with Microfiber Cloths

If your house is like mine, you may have problems with dust. It got to the point it was so bad I thought I was just going to have to learn to look around the dust. How to get around the sneezing was going to be a little more difficult. I was really hesitant to have people over because I couldn’t seem to find anything that worked.

I tried spays, and they just made everything greasy and smelly. I tried what some people call “Microfibers” but they just seemed to push the dust around and let it fly into the air to settle again. Not only does that NOT solve my dust problem, but those methods make my boyfriends allergies go crazy!

I heard form a friend, who gets all her Microfibers form Sargent Steam, there are many kinds of Microfibers. They can be made from different material blends that vary results. This is where you have to know what to look for. She told me there are a few manufactures that make their blend with cotton and microfiber. This prevents the “cling factor.” The best way to go is a poly-blend with no cotton.

She also informed me different weaves get better results in different methods of using them. There are some cloths good for dry use and others that water is the key ingredient. She suggested a lofty weave was the way to go for dust. The tiny, star shaped fibers act like super-hungry fingers grabbing anything you run your hand over. And KEEPING it there!

Using the Dusting Microfiber Cloth from Sargent Steam, all the dust on my surfaces stuck like glue to these great cleaning secrets. I got the book shelves and table tops, the stereo and T.V. equipment, the lamps and furniture dust free in just minutes with ONE cloth.

All that’s left is to throw them in the wash and use them again and again. I don’t use fabric softener with my microfibers because the fibers get coated and loose there touch. I just use regular detergent and line-dry them.

Now, when I have guests over, I can sit and enjoy the company rather than worrying about the ghastly site under and on top of every surface in my home.

SARGENT STEAM RECOMMENDS STEAM FOR KILLING FLU GERMS

Volunteers sought to disinfect local school classes

With the Swine Flu outbreak, health organizations are emphasizing basic cleanliness as a way to help slow the spread of contagions. Heather Page, at Sargent Steam noted that research by a BYU professor shows hot steam can be more effective at killing germs than chemical disinfectants.

Page said her company is encouraging customers who own one of their steam cleaners to volunteer to use it to disinfect their children’s local school classrooms. She noted that research from the Centers for Disease Control has also shown that steam is an effective germ killer.

The study was done by Dr. Richard Robison, an associate professor of microbiology at BYU. It showed that many types of bacteria were killed with less than two seconds of exposure, something that could not be duplicated with chemical disinfectants.

“For those who are concerned about getting rid of flu germs in their environment, I would encourage them to investigate the advantages offered by hot steam,” Page said. “Anyone who has one of our products could perform a valuable service by offering to disinfect the classrooms where their children attend school.”

More information about the study and about disinfecting with steam is available at http://www.sargentsteam.com or by calling our office at (801)-326-8322 or 1-800-SGT-STEA(M).

The Secret to the Best Kept Oven.

Who likes to clean the oven? Would you believe me if I told you I do? The other day I was hosting a dinner party and my apple pie dessert bubbled over and spilled all over my oven. My guests were devastated that I would have to clean up that burnt on mess. My reaction to them was rather shocking because I jumped for joy. You see, that meant I got to clean my oven. I bet you’re thinking, “who is this crazy person, and why does she like to clean her oven?” Well I will let you in on a little secret. Steam cleaners!

I pulled out my steam cleaner and got to work. I started by attaching my 2” stiff brush to the end of my steam nozzle and wrapped it with a stainless steel spiral-cut mesh scrubber to blast through everything baked onto the flat surfaces inside the oven including the oven door and window. (But, be careful, I don’t use regular steel wool scrubbers because they will scratch things like glass and metal only use stainless steel.) My steam cleaner got the entire black, baked-on gunk off the bottom off the oven and racks in minutes.

Next I used my steam nozzle to blast out grime and other gunk in the corners, crevices and other hard to reach places. I absolutely love to see how the black and brown, sticky and caked-on job is taken care of in a matter of minutes with virtually no work The best thing is I did all of this without heating my entire home or using those nasty, harsh chemicals that irritate my skin and breathing and bake into my food the next time I use my oven, making everything taste funny.

My steam cleaner heats ordinary tap water to 300 degrees which is hot enough to melt through all of that burnt on gunk in no time flat. All I have to do is touch the mess with the attachment I choose, and flip the switch on the hose and watch the disaster zone disappear. At that temperature, nothing is going to be left behind like bacteria and germs or any other little critter that might like to make us sick.

Needless to say my dinner party was very impressed with my clean up. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I did all of this while my dinner party was still there and in my dinner party attire. It took me a matter of minutes. While I had my steam cleaner out I also spruced up the oven top and burners. When I was finished, it looked like I have a brand new oven! All of this thanks to my steam cleaner.
